Herbal Dietary Supplements (Herbal Teas)

Plant Manager & Quality Director

Provided operational leadership which included facility management, production, scheduling, sanitation, maintenance, shipping, receiving, inventory control, safety and food defense programs. Continuous evaluation of processes, equipment and implemented changes which improved production capacity and efficiency gains.

Established key quality and food safety programs to comply with Dietary Supplement GMPs and FSMA requirements as a food manufacturer. Expanded in-house QC laboratory botanical analytical capabilities and improved overall QC efficiencies and quality practices.

Conducted audits on US and International copackers, botanical suppliers, packaging suppliers, equipment manufacturers and 3PLs ensuring their practices met Company standards. Countries visited include Canada, Germany and Italy.

Dairy Products

As the Production Manager, had overall production related responsibilities for organic and conventional milk and milk products. Scope of responsibilities include production management, sanitation, inventory control, production scheduling, food safety and food defense programs.

Developed new training programs to ensure a higher standard of comprehension through improved documentation and communication to employees. Evaluated new processing equipment in Italy and led team in its acceptance and qualification. Ensured strict compliance to CDFA, FDA, USDA and Organic regulatory organizations to meet highest standards in the milk industry.

Food Products

As Quality Consultants, provided leadership in the assessment of foreign and US supplier and co-packers for the manufacture of rice and rice products.

Conducted on-site facility inspections which included farms, rice mills, rice-product manufacturing facilities and co-packers. Provided assessments and recommendations for operations to improve their food safety and quality standards. Conducted training for foreign manufacturers in GMPs, root cause analysis and food safety practices. Countries visited included Cambodia, China, and Thailand.

Provide on-going support in ensuring foreign suppliers comply with FSMA’s Foreign Supplier Verification Program.

Cannabis

Licensed California cannabis manufacturer – Led in facility design, buildout, equipment procurement and validation, process development, tech transfer, quality and operational systems development for edibles manufacturing. Ensure compliance systems are developed and implemented to meet California’s Bureau of Cannabis Control’s (BCC) requirements for cannabis manufacturers. Hired and trained facility staff and provided operational and quality oversight until fulltime staff was on board.

CBD

Colorado Hemp-CBD topicals manufacturer – facility and compliance auditing, implementation of corrective actions for operations and quality to comply with dietary supplement GMP standards. Achieved organic certification and Hemp Authority GMP certification for facility and product line. Hired, trained production and QC staff and provided operational and QAQC leadership for the organization.

Hemp Processing

A Northern California start-up company engaged in the extraction and distillation of industrial hemp for commercial distribution. The company utilizes a novel industrial-scale process. As consultants, we are charged with the development of compliance systems and documents so that the operation can be licensed by CDPH and the facility and product lines can be certified organic and GMP-certified by the Hemp Authority.

Agricultural Product

Arrowroot Project - St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), Caribbean

A United Nations supported project and as requested by the SVG Ministry of Agriculture and the Arrowroot Industry Association.

Conducted an extensive food safety compliance assessment of the existing arrowroot industry supply chain (farm, transportation, storage, processing/ packaging, storage, export, inspection and laboratory testing stages) with a final recommendation for areas that need strengthening so that the system will be compliant with current US and international mandatory standards for food safety and quality.
